Meet the TasteMakers

Nikki Muller - Stage Actress, Presenter

With countless professional and personal memories made at this iconic location, Nikki Muller shares why Marina Bay Sands holds a special place in her heart.

It’s not work when you are having as much fun as Nikki Muller.

Case in point: as host of the recent Avengers: Infinity War event at Marina Bay Sands, Nikki convinced the notoriously shy Singaporeans to say: “Hi Robert!” when Robert Downey, Jr., Iron Man himself, arrived. “The energy from 7,000 people was palpable. Riding that wave with so many fans was a blast!” she shares with glee. “When I am in a crowd, I thrive.”

It also helps that her work puts her in touch with some of her personal heroes. "At red carpet events, I was floored to interview [actors like] Michelle Yeoh and Dev Patel, as well as director Eric Khoo," she recalls. Then there was David Beckham - someone Nikki grew up idolizing. "It was the closest I came to losing my cool on stage!"

Hosting on the red carpet is just one of Nikki's numerous gigs for Marina Bay Sands. "The place has started to feel like my home away from home," she shares. For the past two years, Nikki has hosted the integrated resort's BEST OF BEST company gathering. "I love seeing familiar, smiling faces who always greet you with open arms. I'm proud to host this ceremony that highlights the outstanding customer service shown by the MBS staff, from security, casino to housekeeping…it's a 'goosebumps' experience - you get to feel the immense pride and support in the room."

Having A Magical Time

Nikki is in her element when connecting with the audience. She started presenting for television at the age of 15, and has since worked with Disney Channel, FOX Sports, NatGeoPeople, Yahoo, Channel NewsAsia - you name it.

Her most recent venture, however, is the theater. Nikki, who has been represented by the Fly Entertainment Group since 2011, made her debut on the Singapore stage with Michael Chiang's original play, High Class. Nikki understands all too well how vital the audience experience is, for a successful production. As a frequent patron of Marina Bay Sands' Sands Theatre, Nikki has seen of the biggest acts in the world. Ranking high on her list is illusionist and magician Paul Cosentino's Anything Is Possible show.

Nikki was tasked to inspect the chains and locks that kept the magician himself inside a glass box, which was later filled up with water. “It was intense! I was riveted, bewildered, terrified and awestruck at the same time,” says Nikki. “It doesn’t hurt that he’s an absolute looker too.”

The versatility of the theaters at Marina Bays Sands also allows for more than just death defying magic shows, from productions like The Lion King and Mamma Mia! to past headliners like Wicked and The Phantom of the Opera. "I enjoy the setting and the atmosphere at the Sands Theatre," Nikki explains. "It's large - yet feels very intimate." For larger-than-life performances, the stalls on the second level are Nikki's favorite. "It gives the experience a lovely dimension. You want to be able to absorb the splendor of the set, especially for the big theatrical numbers."

Top Of The World

A must for Nikki is making time for some fun and entertainment.

A perfect night out for her ultimately comes down to the company she keeps. "Bring a partner or some close friends," Nikki suggests. "Ensure there's good food and drinks around, and preferably an ambience with great music in the background. And always, always end with some dancing."

The newly launched LAVO on Marina Bay Sands' 57th floor, perfectly fits Nikki's criteria. LAVO's unique experience of fantastic dining and vibrant music/dance spot is a successful concept brought in by the TAO group, who have had phenomenal results with LAVO spots in New York and Las Vegas.

"I'd bring my loved ones to share great food, and great music," shares Nikki. As you get deeper into the night, resident DJs are on hand to bring the crowd to its feet on a nightly basis, and the view, with the skyline spreading out like a star field, doesn't hurt either. "LAVO's DJs know how to work the mood and every song they spin is magic."

With its commanding view of downtown Singapore and music that plays into the wee hours of the morning, it's easy to see how just about anybody can be spellbound and mesmerized - here, at the top of the world. "Every time I look out from the SkyPark, I feel immense pride. This little red dot packs a big punch. There's always something new around the corner."

My Perfect Day at Marina Bay Sands

Day

Start with a morning swim at the infinity pool, have some dim sum at Din Tai Fung for breakfast, then rent an oBike or Mobike and cycle towards Gardens by the Bay.
For lunch, go to The Bird for some fried chicken and cheddar waffles! Wander around the shops at Marina Bay Sands and, if you want, get your hair done at any one of their fabulous salons.

Night

Get dressed and ready for sunset drinks near the water or at LAVO. Catch a performance at the Sands Theatre or have an incredible meal at CUT (they have steaks that melt in your mouth). Don't forget to catch the Spectra Light and Water show around 8pm - how the story unfolds is such a powerful way of transporting you to places unknown! You'll be floored by the incredible pulse of the fountains in time with the flow and rhythm of the music. Everyone's faces around was bathed in pure delight. You never know where you'll be lead to next. Simply breathtaking!
